I filled y'all in on the #bohoberrychallenge that I was participating in, so here are the last few days of it: Favorites (each day was a different favorite, but I combined them all into one sketchnote), and Lessons Learned. I also received a super cute sticker from a BookishCo giveaway package that went on the cover of what I have decided is my new Bullet Journal! Also pictured is the February #bohoberrychallenge!

OMG how did I JUST learn about Pixton?! This site is so awesome! It allows users to make comic strips and share them. You have to buy a license to download your comics, but you can get a free 15 day trial. One of my librarian friends, Debby Barnes, came up with this amazing analogy about links and house addresses and why we don't accept links alone as a citation.
So today I got myself super excited about the Wrinkle In Time movie (I'm going to pretend that Oprah isn't in it and just ignore her.) and thanks to an awesome article with 21 Memorable A Wrinkle In Time Quotes I found a gorgeous quote that I wanted to save. Have any of y'all ever used Canva before? It is a graphic design website where you can make AMAZING graphics that look professionally made. I've used it before when I was in charge of a school's ENTIRE website and had to make pretty images, and I use it occasionally for quotes and Instagram posts. I even used Canva for my wedding save-the-dates and invitations! Anyway, back to the A Wrinkle In Time. Using one of the amazing backgrounds from Canva and one of the quotes from the article, I made this: Isn't it pretty? Canva is AWESOME!
Show me how you have used Canva with a comment or tag me in a post on Twitter or IG (@lispylibrarian)! Today was my first evening of creative writing class at ACC! Sadly, I discovered that while my schedule says that it is supposed to be an Intro to Creative Writing for CHILDREN, it is just Intro to Creative Writing. Soooo I'm going to TRY to work on writing some YA where I can. Anyway, since it was my first time at an ACC campus, you know that I had to check out the library! It was so cozy and quiet-a perfect place to study or relax before class, but I also found that the library was using the old-fashioned stamped due dates in the books! My little librarian heart was so happy for the nostalgia. I also found a book about Brownsville, which is the closest big city in Texas to where I was raised. ;)
A few days ago, I received an email from Junior Library Guild's Deb Ford asking me to be on a webinar with her. Of course I agreed! She sent me a few ARCs so that I'd be prepared, but I quickly realized that I didn't have any space in the bookshelved in my office! I informed my husband that I would be building a bookshelf under the window in our bedroom for my TBR, and he replied "We're going to need a bigger house." HAHAHA! Being the handy, wonderful man that he is-he took the hammer and nails out of my hands and built a floating bookshelf for me under our bedroom window, which turned out WAY better than what I was planning. Thanks, honey! Isn't it cool? He made it seem really easy to build: he just cut some extra wood that we had around (our house has been a bit of a fixer-upper so we have building materials all over the place.), made a box, and then drilled it into the wall under the bookshelf. Ok, maybe I'm making it seem easier than it actually was. :D
Throughout January, I have been participating in the #bohoberrychallenge on Instagram. It is a lettering challenge, but I am using it for sketchnoting. Here are a few of the sketchnotes that I have made this month.
I'm officially going back to school this Spring! I am a part of an online class studying Web Devleopment through a Google Scholarship for Udacity as well as taking a creative writing course at Austin Community College. YAY!
When deciding whether or not to keep the library open later or come in earlier for student use, I asked freshmen classes what they preferred and let them use "hot dots" to vote anonymously. Opening earlier won so now the library is open at 7 am :)
HOLY COW!! Last post, I told y'all that I had reached my goal of 80 books for the year, and now that 2017 is officially OH-VA I can share my final results: 94 BOOKS!
Here is the list of the 14 that weren't already listed:
